Launching the Valley View Acres Blog - General Info

Hello everyone. At our January 2012 neighborhood meeting, it was the consensus of neighbors to explore an on line presence for Valley View Acres (VVA).  While we tried to set up a website in the past, it turned out to be challenging to get started and to maintain, so it appears that a blog might be the easiest of ways to do this. Besides, this blog is free and easy to use.  That said, let's give this a shot.

This blog will hopefully provide a forum for neighbors to discuss the issues of the day, as well as being a central place to share photos, ideas, resources, etc.  Emails will continue to be sent out to those on the VVA email list. If you want to be added to the email list, please email Nick Avdis at navdis@gmail.com. Of course, we will continue to meet on our regular schedule (every third Wednesday of each month, except for December and July). So please feel free to share ideas, photos, thoughts and general comments on this blog.

On the administrative end of things, by submitting a post to the Valley View Acres Community Association blog, you agree to abide by the following blog rules:
(Definition: A “posting” is any article or comment published on the blog.)

  • A posting must not contain material that is illegal, harmful or threatening, or advocate any illegal activity.
  • Postings must be kid-safe. Adults-only material must not appear in any posting, on another website it links to, or on any link that website may lead to.
  • Postings may criticize ideas on their merits only, e.g. “That idea is too expensive,” but not “That idea is ridiculous" or "So and so is an idiot." In other words, be nice — no name-calling towards people or their ideas.
  • Please keep the subject matter of postings to issues that are generally related to the neighborhood.
  • Postings must not contain commercial activity. Comment spam will be removed. Though, an exception will be made for residents advertising their good or services in the appropriate blog post, e.g., "Valley View Acres Goods or Services Offered or Wanted".
  • You must own the copyright to, or have a legal right to publish, any material you post. (Note: if you wrote it, you automatically own the copyright; it does not need to be registered.) Copyright to any posted material remains the property of the copyright holder.
  • Postings that violate the rules may be edited or removed. If a problem persists, the author may be blocked from submitting further postings.
  • A posting that follows the rules will not be edited or removed just because someone disagrees with it.
