March Meeting Summary
Hello all, nice seeing folks at the Angel's place last Wednesday. Here's a brief summary of what was discussed:
1. Police Department Update. Office Zeiger attend our meeting providing an update on issues in our community. We have been fortunate in VVA to have such low instances of crime, aside from occasional dumped stolen vehicles on the levee and illegal dumping. No doubt due to the vigilance of neighbors in reporting all suspicious individuals or activities to the police department.

As an update to this meeting item, in the early hours of last Thursday morning a Mercedes SUV was stripped and dumped at the corner of Sotnip and Tunis. According to reports from neighbors close to the site, this incident occurred at approximately 330am. While those of us on the Levee Road are well familiar with dumped cars given the isolation of some stretches of the levee, it is a troubling development that we have an incident in the neighborhood. You are all encouraged to keep your eyes and ears open and contact the Police any time you suspect something suspicious. I would advise against confronting or otherwise approaching suspicious individuals, just call the Police.

Easter Activities: Besides events over this past weekend at Adventure Christian Church and and River Church, Cavalry Chapel Natomas will be having Easter Sunday festiviites at North Natomas COmmuntiy Park 1839 North Bend Dr. For more info, please visit www.ccnatomas.com.
N Factor Awards. Saturday, April 6th from 6:00 to 7:45 PM at the Benvenuti Arts Center (4600 Blackrock Drive) for a dessert reception and the awards ceremony. There is no cost to attend so please invite your family and friends. They can register online at: http://nfactor2013.eventbrite.
Creekweek. As you know from following this blog and attending our neighborhood meetings, Creekweek clean up is schedule for Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 to noon. In addition to the team meeting in Valley View Acres at the intersection of Sotnip and East Levee road, there are teams meeting at the North Natomas Regional Park site. Other Issues of Community Importance:
There have been reported instaces of mailbox breakins at Regency Park, which some distance from our neighborhood, still a good thing to keep an eye out for. If you see anyone messing with a mailbox that seems like they shouldn't call the Police and/or Troy Dickinson of the Postal Inspectors office(tadickinson@uspis.gov or by phone at (916) 263-7249)

Creekweek cleanup. Like I mentioned before, there will be a Creekweek team meeting at Sotnip and E. Levee Road on Saturday, April 13 at 830am.

Finally, our semi-annual neighborhood cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 th at 8:30 am. We will be meeting at the Angel residence at 5600 Sorento Road and dividing up from there. If you want your street cleaned up, I encourage you to participate in our annual cleanup. A BBQ potluck will be hosted by the Angels following the clean up, bring a favorite dish and a beverage. Again, another great opportunity to meet other folks who call Valley View Acres home.

Free Compost Seminars Hosted by City of Sacramento
Hi all, the City of Sacramento Recycling and Solid Waste Division is hosting six free backyard composting seminars in 2013. The first is this Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Southside Community Garden, 5th & W Streets (Downtown). There are two sessions: 8:00-9:00AM and 9:00-10:00AM. Those that attend will receive a backyard composting guide and will be entered into a drawing for a BioStack Compost Bin (City residents only). Coffee will also be provided.
Pre-registration is not required however, you can help the City plan with a RSVP at www.Facebook.com/SacRecycle.
