September Meeting Summary

Thanks to all who attended last week's meeting. Another great turnout. Of course, special thanks to the Angel's for opening up their home to host our neighborhood meeting this month.

Here's a brief summary of our last meeting:

Police Update.  Representatives from Sac PD were in attendance and provided a summary of recent crime incidents and trends in North Natomas, as well as fielding many questions from neighbors. The officers were very generous with their time, thank you!

Sorento Road Issue.  Negotiations are continuing with Twin Rivers Unified School District regarding their obligations to certain improvements to Sorento Road. The District is taking the position that they have no funding to satisfy the promises they made to the neighborhood. VVA representatives continue to advocate for at least some of the improvements to be made as originally promised.

Neighborhood Roadways.  As a related point, the City has informed us we are scheduled for some freshening up of other roadways within VVA, including the slurry sealing of roads. We are now on the maintenance list for 2015.  All improvements such as these are scheduled 3 years in advance by the City. Good job Ken Roggenkamp and thank you Michelle Kille with Vice Mayor Ashby's office!

Neighborhood Clean-up.  We also discussed the logistics of our upcoming neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, October 13. The Angels have volunteered their home at 5600 Sorento Road as a staging location.  Folks are encouraged to meet there at 8:30 am and determine our plan of attack for cleaning up roadside trash from there. BBQ/Potluck to follow at 11am or so.  Thank you Angels!

Next month we'll be holding elections for officers and directors, so if you are interested or wish to support someone in particular for a position, please attend next month's meeting!

Next meeting: Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 6:30pm, location TBD.
