June Meeting
This month we have attendance commitments from the City's Department of Utilities and a representative for the Sacramento Groundwater Authority to discuss the drought's effect on City water supplies and as well as the lowdown on the state of groundwater in Natomas. Please note that this will be the last meeting until August, we take a break, sort-of, by not meeting in July since we'll all be at the 4th of July parade and related festivities.

May Meeeting
All, Wednesday, May 20th is our next scheduled meeting. This month it'll be at the Santos home at 721 Barros at 630 (thanks Nando and Dolores!)
I had hoped City Utilities Department and Sacramento Groundwater Authority representatives would be available to attend this month to discuss groundwater, but because of scheduling conflicts, they are unable to attend. However, both have indicated availability for our June meeting. I will keep you posted.
We will be discussing
the Panhandle project, which appears to be in some very early
discussions with the City of pursuing the necessary permits to develop.
While moving very, very slowly and any potential development being many
years out, I think getting back up to speed on the issues is time well
spent. I had hoped City Utilities Department and Sacramento Groundwater Authority representatives would be available to attend this month to discuss groundwater, but because of scheduling conflicts, they are unable to attend. However, both have indicated availability for our June meeting. I will keep you posted.

Neighborhood Cleanup - May 2nd
We'll be having our annual neighborhood cleanup, next Saturday, May
2nd. This has been a very successful cleanup every year and expect this
year to be no different.
Atlas Disposal has, again,
generously donated a 40 yard container at no charge. It will be located
near the Angel residence at 5600 Sorento Road. If you'd like to team up
with others from the neighborhood, we'll be meeting at the Angel's at
about 830am and breaking off into teams from there. Otherwise, you are
welcome to join us as we make our way through the neighborhood. What
streets we clean up will depend on the number of volunteers, so come out
even if its for 30 mins or an hour. If you are unable to participate in the cleanup, we encourage you to consider at least picking up trash in front of your property (if there is any).

April Meeting Update
This weekend I received a couple requests to add the
effects of the current drought and state groundwater regulation to VVA
wells on this months agenda, which we're going to do, as groundwater is
essential to our community in many respects, including domestic and
agricultural use.
Given that this Wednesday's agenda is jam packed, which is necessarily going to curb the amount of time we can spend on a particular topic, I am also going to follow up with the County Department of Water Resources, which is the government agency that oversees groundwater wells and groundwater use in Sacramento County, and request a representative attend our May meeting so that we can have an expert in the area address questions and concerns of neighbors. Given its importance to all of us, we'll plan on dedicating a majority of the May meeting time on this issue.
Thanks to
those who chimed in. We all choose to live in a very special and
diverse community and its heartening to know that despite our
differences we all care very much about living here together!Given that this Wednesday's agenda is jam packed, which is necessarily going to curb the amount of time we can spend on a particular topic, I am also going to follow up with the County Department of Water Resources, which is the government agency that oversees groundwater wells and groundwater use in Sacramento County, and request a representative attend our May meeting so that we can have an expert in the area address questions and concerns of neighbors.
